Castles in Transylvania – 6 Days Tour
Step into a realm where fairytales come alive and history echoes through stone corridors. This immersive 6-day journey through Transylvania’s most iconic castles and medieval towns offers more than just sightseeing—it’s a feast for the senses, filled with rich history, cultural encounters, and breathtaking landscapes.
This 6-day guided tour offers a deep dive into Transylvania’s royal and medieval heritage, blending monumental architecture, quiet villages, and vibrant towns into one unforgettable experience. Starting from Bucharest, we head into the Carpathian Mountains where the storybook charm begins. We’ll visit Peleș Castle, a jewel of Neo-Renaissance architecture nestled in Sinaia, once a royal summer residence. From there, we make our way to Brașov, a city of cobbled streets, lively squares, and medieval fortifications.
Day two is all about legends and living traditions. At Bran Castle, famously linked to Dracula, you’ll explore its shadowy halls and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding hills. Then we head to Viscri, a Saxon village seemingly untouched by time, for a traditional home-hosted lunch. Our day ends in Sighișoara, a beautifully preserved citadel and the birthplace of Vlad the Impaler.
The journey continues through the UNESCO-listed fortified church of Biertan and a wine-tasting experience at Jidvei Estate, followed by a relaxing evening in Sibiu, one of Romania’s most elegant towns. From here, we take a day trip to Corvin Castle, one of Eastern Europe’s most impressive Gothic fortresses, and the Alba Iulia Citadel, the spiritual heart of modern Romania.
On day five, prepare for dramatic landscapes as we cross the Transfăgărășan Highway (open seasonally), with a stop at the cliff-side ruins of Poienari Fortress and the ornate Curtea de Argeș Monastery. The tour ends in Bucharest, but the memories—from candle-lit castle interiors to warm countryside kitchens—will last far longer.
