Dracula Tour – 7 Days Tour

Unravel the myth and reality behind the world’s most famous vampire on this 7-day Dracula tour through Romania. Designed to explore both the historical figure of Vlad the Impaler and Bram Stoker’s literary creation, this journey will take you through castles, fortresses, and eerie mountain passes, immersing you in Romania’s haunting legends and captivating landscapes.

This expertly curated Dracula Tour blends Romania’s rich medieval history with Gothic fiction, offering a fascinating perspective on the man and the myth. Vlad the Impaler—known locally as Vlad Țepeș—was a 15th-century ruler of Wallachia whose dramatic reign inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula. But while Stoker never visited Romania, his novel has become inextricably tied to its evocative landscapes and haunted fortresses.

Our journey begins in Bucharest, Romania’s vibrant capital, with a city tour that introduces the historical and political context of Vlad Dracula’s era. From there, we travel to Târgoviște, the former capital of Wallachia where Vlad ruled, and visit the Poenari Fortress, perched high above the Argeș River valley and considered the real stronghold of the Impaler. The breathtaking Balea Lake, reached via the spectacular Transfăgărășan Road, offers an atmospheric transition into Transylvania.

The route continues through Sibiu, Mediaș, and Cluj-Napoca, cities steeped in medieval architecture and home to Dracula legends both historical and literary. In Bistrița, we delve deeper into the novel, staying near the eerie Borgo Pass, where Jonathan Harker entered Dracula’s domain.

We visit Târgu Mureș and the UNESCO citadel of Sighișoara, the actual birthplace of Vlad the Impaler, before heading to Brașov and the famed Bran Castle—popularly (if inaccurately) known as Dracula’s Castle. The tour concludes with a visit to Peleș Castle, an architectural masterpiece of Romanian royalty, and the secluded Snagov Monastery, where Vlad is believed to be buried.

With the guidance of an expert tour leader, you’ll uncover the authentic story behind Dracula’s legend—through historical insight, literary interpretation, and unforgettable landscapes.
