Ecotourism Packages in Transylvania – 9 Days Tour

Discover the wild heart of Transylvania on an immersive 9-day ecotourism journey that connects you to nature, tradition, and sustainable living. Designed for travelers who value responsible tourism, this tour combines soft adventure with cultural encounters, emphasizing low-impact exploration and meaningful connections with local communities.

Our 9-day Ecotourism Tour in Transylvania is not your average nature retreat—it’s a thoughtfully designed adventure into the core of Romanian biodiversity, local traditions, and conscious travel. Based in some of the most ecologically diverse regions of the country, this trip brings you face to face with the wilderness of the Făgăraș Mountains, ancient woodlands, and unspoiled highland villages, while also offering unique learning experiences like foraging, birdwatching, and astronomy.

The journey begins with a deep dive into forest ecology and tracking in one of Europe’s last remaining virgin forests. Here, you’ll learn how to observe wildlife safely and respectfully, guided by biologists and conservationists. Our “Forest Detectives” program teaches guests how to read the subtle signs of wildlife movement and understand the fragile ecosystems that support species such as bears, lynx, wolves, and red deer.

In the hills and meadows near the Cindrel and Făgăraș Mountains, we’ll explore medicinal plants, wild edibles, and ancient land management systems. Enjoy a picnic made from local ingredients, chat with village elders about their traditions, and walk among haystacks and shepherds, absorbing the pace of life that has endured for centuries. One of the most memorable nights will be spent in a remote haybarn, where the absence of light pollution allows for an unparalleled night sky photography and stargazing experience, part of our “Night Ecology” theme.

Each activity is led by local experts, such as herbalists, astronomers, wildlife trackers, or village craftsmen, offering both educational insights and genuine community interactions. For those with a keen interest in sustainability, the tour also explores environmental initiatives such as rewilding programs, traditional food production, and low-impact energy solutions being tested in rural Transylvania.

Flexibility is key to this tour: the final itinerary is built around your selected interests and physical fitness. Whether you join just for a few core experiences or engage in the full 9-day program, we’ll adapt the route to reduce travel time and increase time spent in nature. Transportation is arranged with an emphasis on sustainability—using public transport where possible, and promoting walking or cycling between locations.
