Romania Photo Tour – 15 Days Tour

Embark on a unique photographic journey through Romania, a country where nature, tradition, and time-worn beauty converge into a dreamland for photographers. Over the course of 15 days, this curated photo tour guides you through Romania’s most captivating regions—from wooden villages in Maramureș to the reed-filled wetlands of the Danube Delta.

Romania is a land of contrasts—a country where medieval citadels lie minutes from haystacks, and where Orthodox monasteries share the skyline with ancient fortresses and pastel-hued town squares. This 15-day photography tour has been crafted to immerse you in this visual diversity. Starting in Cluj-Napoca, we journey north to Maramureș, where time slows in cobblestone villages and wooden churches rise from rolling hills. Capture portraits of locals in traditional clothing, document horse-drawn carts and craftsmen still working with age-old tools, and photograph the vibrant Merry Cemetery and the evocative Sighet Memorial.

From there, we travel east to Bucovina, a region famous for its UNESCO-listed painted monasteries—each with intricate frescoes telling biblical stories in vivid colors against forested backdrops. After crossing the Borgo Pass—a misty mountain corridor known from Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”—we spend several days exploring Transylvania. Here, you’ll photograph fairytale towns like Sighișoara, rustic Saxon villages like Viscri, and the Gothic grandeur of Corvin Castle. We’ll also meet local blacksmiths, shepherds, and artisans whose lives echo centuries of rural tradition.

The tour then ventures south along the Transfăgărășan Highway, one of Europe’s most scenic roads, passing glacial lakes and alpine panoramas. We visit dramatic landmarks like Bran Castle, Râșnov Fortress, and the stunning Peleș Castle, all rich with photographic potential. Finally, we descend into Dobrogea and the Danube Delta, a watery world of reed islands and bird sanctuaries. Here, boat rides offer a rare chance to photograph pelicans, herons, fishermen, and the soft golden light of sunrise on open water.

Each day includes personalized guidance from your tour leader—an experienced local guide knowledgeable in both photography and Romanian culture. You’ll have the opportunity to practice landscape, portrait, documentary, and architectural photography, while staying in handpicked accommodations that reflect the character of each region.

This tour is not just about taking pictures; it’s about capturing the soul of Romania, one frame at a time.
