Sopot: Tour to Slowinski National Park
Escape the city and explore the breathtaking Słowiński National Park, one of Poland’s most unique natural wonders. Located on the Baltic coast, this UNESCO-designated biosphere reserve is famous for its shifting sand dunes, often called the “Polish Sahara.” Experience a landscape of vast sand formations, coastal lakes, forests, and wetlands, making it an ideal destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers.
Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Sopot to Słowiński National Park, one of Poland’s most fascinating protected areas. Covering over 32,000 hectares, the park is home to diverse landscapes, including lakes, peat bogs, meadows, and forests. However, its most famous feature is the massive shifting sand dunes, which move up to 10 meters per year due to strong coastal winds.
Upon arrival, you will take an eco-friendly electric shuttle or walk through the picturesque landscape, reaching the Łącka Dune, the most famous of the shifting dunes. Rising up to 40 meters high, it offers breathtaking panoramic views of the Baltic Sea, Łebsko Lake, and the surrounding nature. Walking on the golden sands, you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped into a desert—an extraordinary contrast to the nearby lush forests.
As you explore, your guide will explain the geological processes that create these constantly changing dunes and their impact on the region’s ecosystem. You’ll also learn about the rich biodiversity of the park, home to over 250 species of birds, including eagles, herons, and cormorants.
The tour continues with a visit to Łebsko Lake, the third-largest lake in Poland and an important habitat for wildlife. Depending on the season, you may also visit Czołpino Lighthouse, offering incredible views over the Baltic coastline.
After a day of exploration, you’ll have free time to relax on the sandy beaches, take photos of the stunning landscapes, or enjoy a meal at a nearby café before returning to Sopot.
