Warsaw: 2 Day Tour to Auschwitz and Krakow

Your journey begins with an early morning departure from Warsaw, where you will travel by comfortable vehicle to Auschwitz-Birkenau, located approximately 3.5 hours from the capital. Upon arrival, you will join a guided tour of Auschwitz, the largest and most notorious Nazi concentration and extermination camp. During your visit, you will learn about the camp’s harrowing history and the atrocities that took place there. The guide will take you through the iconic entrance gate of Auschwitz, marked by the phrase “Arbeit Macht Frei” (“Work Sets You Free”), and into the barracks, gas chambers, and crematoria, where millions of Jews, Romani people, Polish resistance fighters, and other victims perished. You will visit landmarks such as the magnificent Main Market Square, the largest medieval town square in Europe, and St. Mary’s Basilica, with its stunning altarpiece by Veit Stoss. You will also walk along the Royal Route, which leads to Wawel Hill and the Wawel Castle, the seat of Polish kings for centuries.

Next, you will visit the Kazimierz Jewish Quarter, once home to Krakow’s thriving Jewish community. Here, you’ll explore historic synagogues, charming streets, and important Jewish heritage sites, including the Old Synagogue and the Remuh Cemetery. The tour will offer insight into the vibrant history of Jewish life in Krakow, as well as its transformation during World War II and the Holocaust.

Finally, before returning to Warsaw, you will have some free time to explore Krakow at your own pace, perhaps visiting the bustling Cloth Hall or enjoying a cup of coffee at one of the many charming cafes in the Old Town. Afterward, you will board the coach for the journey back to Warsaw, where the tour concludes.
