Rovaniemi: Kätkävaara Scenery Fell and Caves Hiking Expedition

Prepare for a full-day exploration of the breathtaking Kätkävaara region, renowned for its pristine wilderness and stunning natural features. Our journey begins in the morning, departing from your hotel’s reception. As we venture into the heart of Southern Lapland, you’ll be captivated by the mesmerizing scenery that unfolds before you.

Traverse through partly bare fells that reach towards the skies, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Crystal-clear rivers, vast string bogs, and dense forests create a haven for wildlife, including lynx, moose, bears, and reindeer. Our hike will lead us along the renowned Kätkävaara nature path, a 7 km trail that winds its way through ancient seas and offers 19 unique destinations to explore. Along the way, we’ll ascend to the summit of Kätkävaara fell, where a log hut provides a cozy retreat to warm up by the fire and soak in panoramic views of Southern Lapland.

In addition to the nature path, we’ll also venture to explore the famous caves, offering a unique perspective of Finland’s remarkable scenery. Learn about the region’s rich history, including signs of ancient habitation dating back thousands of years, as archaeologists continue to uncover the area’s secrets.

During our excursion, we’ll take breaks to indulge in snacks and warm beverages in a traditional tepee, providing a moment of relaxation amidst our outdoor adventure.
