Bratislava: Banska Stiavnica and Topolcianky Tour
Experience the rich history and cultural heritage of Slovakia with a full-day excursion from Bratislava to Banska Stiavnica and Topolcianky. Our journey begins in Bratislava, where we’ll pick you up and transport you to Banska Stiavnica, a beautifully preserved medieval town steeped in history and recognized by UNESCO. After exploring the town’s architectural treasures, we’ll continue our tour with a visit to the charming village of Topolcianky, known for its Renaissance castle and its historical significance as the summer residence of Czechoslovak presidents.
Our tour commences with a pick-up in Bratislava, and a scenic 185-kilometer drive transports us to the enchanting town of Banska Stiavnica. Dating back to the 12th century, this medieval gem has deep roots in mining history. Within the town center lies the picturesque Holy Trinity Square, featuring the 16th-century St. Catherine church and the awe-inspiring Holy Trinity Column adorned with remarkable sculptures. Our visit also includes an exploration of an ancient silver mine, the oldest in the region, located just beneath the Main Square. In recognition of its historical and architectural significance, UNESCO has bestowed World Heritage Site status upon Banska Stiavnica since 1993.
On our return journey to Bratislava, we’ll make a stop in Topolcianky, a small village renowned for its Renaissance castle. This castle holds a unique place in history, serving as the summer residence of Czechoslovak presidents for over three decades during the early 20th century. Today, one wing of the castle stands as a testament to Slovakian neoclassical architecture and historical importance. On your request we can also add visit to Château Topolcianky. A wine manufacturer established in 1933 in the central part of the Danube plain in the south of the Slovak Republic.
